Accumulator Charging Valves

Providing Reliable and Efficient Energy System Management

ZF Accumulator Charging Valves offer energy efficient charging cycles reducing operating costs that improves the proficiency of your application.

With over 45 years of proven designs, the accumulator charging valves are built for heavy-duty mobile equipment. Used in open center and load sensing hydraulic systems, these valves can include various options such as a relief valve to limit main hydraulic system pressure.

Your advantages:

  • Improves efficiency by having no continuous drain of oil to reservoir
  • Integrates easily into the hydraulic braking system
  • No secondary fluid source required
  • Variety of pressure ranges between high and low limites available in order to reduce pump cycle time
single accumulator

Single Accumulator Charging Valve Charges Accumulator in a Hydraulic Brake Circuit

Designed for installation in open center hydraulic systems, these valves use an internal spool valve to control hydraulic system flow to pressurize an accumulator.

  • Flow rates to 113 I/min (30 gpm)
  • Remotely mounted from brake valves
  • Supplies oil to an accumulator from an open center circuit on demand at a preset rate
dual accumulator

Dual Accumulator Charging Valve Charges Accumulator in a Dual Hydraulic Brake Circuit

These valves monitor accumulator pressure and control hydraulic system flow to pressurize accumulators from two independent accumulator ports.

  • Load sensing options available
  • Uses power developed in the main hydraulic system
  • Built-in relief valve to limit the main hydraulic system pressure
charging valve

Accumulator Charging Valve With Relief Single and Dual

The function of these charging valves with relief is the same as either the single or dual charging valves above. However, a main hydraulic system relief valve is incorporated.

Accumulator Charging Valves with Load Sensing Single and Dual

Accumulator Charging Valves with Load Sensing Single and Dual

Load sensing charging valves send a load sense signal to a load compensated pump creating energy efficient circuits. The charging function is the same as the single or dual charging valves, and is used in load sensing hydraulic circuits.

Universal Charging Valve

Expand existing accumulator charging valve applications with innovative product offering to suite modular customization. The MICO Universal Charging Valve provides the custom configuration features of a manifold block with high performance of a cast valve housing to create common solutions across multiple machine platforms.

Your advantages:

  • Create common solutions across multiple machine platforms to streamline assembly
  • Reduces need to order/stock large number of model numbers simplifying supply chain and purchasing
  • Simplified design eliminates the need for additional components
  • No shock or undesirable noise

Park Brake Valves

charging valve

Park Brake Valves With Auto Apply

Provides added safety for operator and vehicle by controlling actuation of a spring apply, hydraulic release park brake.

  • Can function automatically and manually
  • Controls on/off function of spring apply/hydraulic release parking brake
  • Valve senses accumulator brake pressure and automatically apply brakes at a predetermined pressure

Modulating Valves

Providing directional control of brake system pressure

Robust ZF Modulating Brake Valves assure reliable brake performance in demanding off-highway conditions. Extensive experience with heavy-duty off-highway machine braking makes it possible to offer a broad range of modulating hydraulic brake valves. These can be designed to customer-specified braking requirements.

valves
  • Design allows for superior brake performance through minimal leakage and low hysteresis
  • Oil immersed spring cavity protects return springs from outside contaminants
  • When used with properly sized accumulator and charging valve, emergency power-off braking is available
  • Broad range of modulating valves include two stage modulation for customized pedal feel
reverse modulating valve

Single Modulating Valve Available feedback for electronic pedal angle control capability

When used with a properly sized accumulator and accumulator charging valve, the single modulating valves can provide normal and emergency power-off braking in a variety of open center, closed center and load sensing hydraulic systems.

  • Compact design is customizable to applications requirements
  • Spool design provides smooth modulation at specified pressures
  • Optional designs with built-in switches, and potentiometers
  • Eliminates the need for a separate power brake unit or separate hydraulic fluid system
tandem modulating valve

Tandem Modulating Valve Superior Brake Performance

Operates similar to the single modulating valves, except two independent pressure outputs are provided. If either half of a dual brake system fails, the other half will continue to provide braking function.

  • Eliminates the need for separate power brake unit or separate hydraulic fluid system
  • Available as valve only, push-rod actuated, lever actuated and pedal actuated
  • Optional designs with built-in switches, and potentiometers
reverse modulating valve

Reverse Modulating Valve Robust pedal design for demanding environment

Reverse modulating valves are used in negative brake systems for controlled actuation of spring apply/hydraulic release service brake. As the pedal is applied, pressure to the brake is reduced causing the brake to engage.

  • Precise control of modulated output pressure
  • Can be actuated by pull mechanism, or pedal
  • Optional lock lever available on pedal designs to hold at full release pressure
relay valve image

Relay Valves

A closed center design used for modulating output pressures up to 3000 PSI. Can be adapted to a variety of hydraulic systems. Power off-braking through limited stored energy in the accumulator(s). ZF also makes a hydraulic over air relay valve. These valves output air pressure in proportion to the hydraulic input pressure. Hydraulic input pressure, from a component such as a master cylinder or hydraulic control valve, sends a pilot signal to the relay valve to moderate air brake pressure.

dual power brake valve

Dual Power Brake Valves for Steering Assist Easily Adapted to Dual Pedal Systems

This design can easily adapt to many dual pedal systems to provide steering assist power braking with one pedal applied or full power braking with both pedals applied giving equally balanced brake pressures.

  • Compact integrated design for use in restricted space
  • Power off braking through limited stored energy in the accumulators
  • Direct acting spool provides a pedal feel accurately representing brake pressure
